Backyard Bike Ramp Setup: Space, Surfaces and Storage

A ramp with a landing takes the length of both plus the gap between them. COACH and a MINI PAD add up to 3.9 m of gear before the gap, and COACH handles gaps from 0.5 to 10 m. Start with a short gap and go a little wider every session.
HOW MUCH ROOM DO YOU NEED AROUND THE RAMP?
The run-up depends on the rider. Some pedal hard, some roll in slowly and some start from a downhill, so one number for every ramp would be a guess.
Behind the landing, leave wide open ground with no posts, walls or rocks. The faster you ride, the more room you need. The best spot of all has a natural slope: put the ramp in front of it and jump onto the slope.
WHICH SURFACES CAN A BIKE RAMP STAND ON?
MTB Hopper ramps stand on any surface, including grass, pavers, concrete, gravel and asphalt. Rubber feet grip the ground, and the legs adjust independently, so a ramp also stands firm on uneven ground and slopes. You don't need a mat or boards underneath.
One rule: don't set the ramp up in front of a curb so its front legs lean against it.
THE PUSH TEST BEFORE YOUR FIRST JUMP
- Assemble the ramp following its manual, from the sheet in the box or the Manuals page.
- Put it where you want to ride.
- Push it forward with your hands. It shouldn't move or slide.
- Step onto the ramp and run up it to feel how stable it is.
- Take the first run at a fairly low speed.

CAN A BIKE RAMP STAY OUTSIDE ALL YEAR?
Store your MTB Hopper ramp somewhere dry. The paint protects the wood, but a ramp left out in rain, sun and snow all year can wear out sooner. A covered terrace or a spot under a roof works, as long as rain and snow can't hit the ramp directly.
